1.    What is RIGOLOGY® ?

Rigology®, from the French word "rigolo" meaning "amusing" in child talk, is the science of laughter and joie de vivre!

Rigology® is a one of a kind Professional Training Certification which uses laughter, humour, games and clowning in a therapeutic way, combining physical and psychological techniques from laughter yoga (India), playful sophrology® (Colombia), emotional education, positive psychology, complete awareness and love therapy (USA), as well as games of all sorts, hospital clown approach and universal benefits borrowed from martial arts, stretching, breathing, relaxation, visualisation and meditation.

If the exercise is short, playful, amusing and above all effective, then it is "rigologique" ("laughological")!

2.    Who is this training for ?

Rigology® concerns absolutely everyone because laughter is a vital reflex designed to maintain good physical, psychological and emotional health. It therefore applies to all those wishing to genuinely reconnect with their joy of living and enhance their well-being as well as the well-being of loved ones in a lasting manner.

Rigology® is also a creative complementary training for those in business coaching or in therapeutic aid resource or socio-educational environments.

3.    Laughter yoga/Rigology®

Laughter yoga was invented in 1995 by a general practitioner named Madan Kataria. This expertise is taught within two days for activity leaders and within five days for teachers.

Rigology® involves many worldwide disciplines apart from laughter yoga. For aspiring future Expert Rigologists® (the professional expert in laughter), it is taught by ten teachers well known in their respective fields in a 6-module timeframe of 5 to 7 days each, for a minimum period of 2 years. Furthermore, the future Expert Rigologists® must complete a post-graduate dissertation and an on-the-job traineeship. They also must go through regular updating of know-how as well as professional practice supervision.

However Rigology® may be practiced following the completion of the first 7-day module (Laughter yoga: 2 days + Rigology® 1: 5 days).

4.    Training content

The Rigology®1 module is aimed at training Rigologists® capable of immediately practicing this discipline. This module is offered to any motivated person whether professional or not. It is complete in itself and there is no obligation to continue on with the Expert training. Hundreds of Rigologists® are now practicing Rigology® throughout 15 or so countries and there are only about 20 Expert Rigologists®.

The Rigology®1 module is very condense with 70% practical and only 30% theory. This is why it is ideal for those having previously followed the two days of laughter yoga as well as having hosted laughter yoga sessions.

This module addresses all the techniques involved in Rigology® helping Rigologists® to discover vectors they may wish to develop later on in their own practice.

Rigologists® explain and contribute to the enhancement of daily laughter yoga sessions while using a variety of techniques in Rigology®.

Among other things, the Program addresses how to adapt the sessions to different target groups, e.g. children, teens, adults, the elderly, the sick, the disabled, those within social inclusion or businesses.

The techniques used come from many horizons−playful sophrology® (Colombia), emotional education and emotional hygiene (USA et France), cooperative games, personal development, initiation to clowning, breathing, supervised relaxation, dynamic and static meditation, complete awareness, love therapy, laughter hugs, happenings, etc.

The Rigologist®1 Certificate will be issued by Corinne Cosseron's International School of Laughter following the successful leading of different activities requested throughout the week.

The Rigologists® are then registered on the official certified Rigologists listing available at www.laughterschool.org and may then use all of The International School of Laughter's logos as well as register their clubs in the "Where to laugh?" section.

5.    Why become a rigologist® ?

Three reasons for becoming a Rigologist®:

1 – For your own benefit, to have access at all times to the best of oneself, one’s creative potential, joyful living and happiness, with the desire to share it with loved ones, whether in good health or not.

2 – To add the tools of laughter and joyful living to your current career. Many doctors, psychologists, therapists, social workers, business coaches, teachers, artists, etc. acquire Rigology® Training to sprinkle a little joyful living on their professional practices. They find that their lives and practices have greatly lightened up thanks to Rigology®.

3 – To become an Expert Rigologist® and practice Rigology® full time through collective and individual sessions. The pioneers who choose this innovative path say they are happy, but not necessarily rich money wise. Rigology® is an extremely recent technique not yet well recognized. It offers a significant plus to all professional practices, but, except for a few rare cases, does not yet allow you to make a living from it alone.

In conclusion – Becoming a Rigologist® changes one’s personal and professional life while significantly modifying in a positive way our relationship with others. But for now, Rigology® is more of a supplement to an existing activity than a profession in its own right.
